I would not be the world's topmost self-second-guesser if I didn't start out with a disclaimer. So: I know, I know - Alias is utter drivel. Yes, yes, never have I seen such a puerile display of flimsy excuses to put a woman* in as many different skimpy outfits as possible. As far as I can tell, the writers must have been forced into the job after a merciless Clockwork Harlequin-romance treatment.

Then again, the above describes the majority of American shows. HBO productions excluded.
